Although, starting the season with a couple of key men injured including Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Christian Pulisic, they weren’t able to get the results that they’d have liked to have at the beginning of the year. However, this is starting to look like this is behind them now and they can finally start firing on all cylinders.
In their last three games, Chelsea have scored 10 goals and conceded 0 which is the type of form that Frank Lampard will be wanting his squad to deliver if they are serious about winning the Premier League and Champions League which is ultimately the goal for both him, Chelsea and the fans.
When the season first started, Lampard had to deal with injuries to some of his main squad and therefore had to play players out of position which wasn’t working for him. Timo Werner was having to play on the left wing, with Kai Havertz having to play on the right, the star quality on these two players in much more destructive when they are both played centrally which has been seen in the past couple games.
This has been allowed to happen due to the return of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic who have gave them the natural width that they have been crying out for. Pulisic who Chelsea fans are already aware of is that fast, direct, dribbling player who scares the life out of any defence whereas Ziyech is that natural creator with a skillset of both dribbling, passing and shooting which is unchallenged in the Premier League.
And finally, the last piece in the jigsaw to get Chelsea back up to the big time has been the signing of Edouard Mendy who has looked seriously impressive in his first 6 games for the Blues. In fact, in 6 games he has kept 5 clean sheets and looks as if he has claimed the Chelsea number one jersey for the remainder of the season.
